Between the FIFA and EAFC series, Pro Clubs, or now ‘Clubs,‘ has had its ups and downs since its debut in FIFA 09. However, it has always been a mode that fosters a strong sense of community among players. The mode was neglected for consecutive years in the ladder stages of EA Sports’ FIFA era. However, EAFC series has started off strong with the team play mode, and with the next game, EAFC 25, announced, EA Sports has revealed early details for this year’s rendition of Clubs, further strengthening the bond among players.
EAFC 25 Clubs: Early Details
Over the last couple of years, Clubs have received notable features like deeper customization options and cross-platform capabilities. However, the first iteration of EA Sports’ newest football series, EAFC 24, introduced a new division and playoff system, so the company’s desire to improve the mode is present.
Now that EA Sports FC 25 has been officially announced, early details of the newest edition of Clubs have surfaced on the game’s official site. Here are some of the new features coming to EAFC 25 Clubs.
The return of relegation
The absence of relegation was a slight change from the developers in EAFC 24. However, relegation is very much needed in the structure of divisions in Clubs. If your club isn’t performing well on the pitch in EA’s current football title, you won’t be promoted and stay in your current division until you win a way out.
Adding back in relegation would incentivize players to play hard to win consistently to avoid dropping into a lower division. It would light a fire under the club to produce results and get into a position to have a good, competitive run in playoffs.
Clubs store
The last two football games from EA Sports saw Volta Football become somewhat intertwined with Clubs. Players could earn rewards for Volta while playing Clubs and vice versa. Players could also buy items in the Volta store and use them in Clubs, which made their pro stand out and unique.
Now that Volta is no longer a mode in EAFC, EA Sports has kept the idea of the Volta coins and transitioned to ‘Club Coins.‘ Players can use this virtual currency directly from the team-play mode and customize their pro with unique gear.
New height requirements
EA Sports is responding to player feedback regarding height in EAFC 25. This may be due to the overpowering nature of headers from tall players in EAFC 24. The new height restriction for the upcoming football game is now 6’5”.
I’m all for a height restriction, but I think the company also needs to do something about the minimum height. Players tend to make smaller players abuse pace. This has been an ongoing problem for years in Clubs and has yet to be addressed.
EA Sports has set a deep dive into Clubs sometime in July, so we will know loads more about the game before the month ends.
EA Sports FC 25 kicks off on September 27, 2024, and it will be available on PlayStation5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
