eFootball 1.0 Update FINALLY Set to Release

Since eFootball 2022′s disastrous launch, Konami has been hard at work on the game’s first massive update, patch 1.0. Recently, Konami delayed this patch back in early November. The Japan-based developer has announced on Twitter that eFootball patch 1.0 will be released on April 14.

eFootball 2022‘s release was nothing short of a disaster for Konami. The game received horrible reviews for its glitchy cut scenes and awkward gameplay. Konami stated that changes in the 1.0 update are driven by user feedback from our users.

What Does eFootball 1.0 Bring?

Update 1.0 will bring a handful of fixes to gameplay like a reworked passing system, more intelligent AI, and shot variety. In addition, Konami will be adding new game plan options, formation changes, and more profound tactics.

One of the more significant additions coming to eFootball is Dream Team mode. This feature lets fans build their football club by purchasing players and coaches, similar to FIFA‘s Ultimate Team. You can check out the full details of the update on Konami’s website here.

eFootball 2022 Review

In our SGO review of the game, we stated that eFootball simply needed time. Hopefully, this new update is the start of a proper rebuild for the series.

Here are some of my thoughts on the poor launch of eFootball in our SGO review.

“Konami’s attempt to bring eFootball to a new engine has cost them dearly. History shows switching game engines and releasing in the same dev cycle means a poor launch. That seems to be the case here. The current eFootball appears to no longer have an identity and lacks quality in many departments upheld by its predecessors.”
