eFootball and the football governing body, FIFA, have collaborated to introduce the FIFAe World Cup.

FIFAe World Cup

FIFA and eFootball have teamed up in this year’s FIFAe World Cup, a new Esports competition featuring 18 teams worldwide. This esports-style World Cup will give players a chance to represent their country while playing eFootball. The competition is set to take place, starting with the qualifying rounds on October 10th.

FIFA continues to find partnerships

FIFA and EA Sports’ 30-year partnership ended in 2022. Since then, EA Sports has ushered in a new football experience with EAFC, and FIFA has been on the prowl to find a new partner.

Earlier this year, rumors started bubbling up about a possible deal between the governing body and 2K Sports. While nothing has materialized from that just yet, FIFA’s President, Gianni Infantino, has stated that the company is making a new game with a new developer. We are still determining if the deal with eFootball is the one he is talking about, but this news does confirm that FIFA is actively pursuing deals with companies over its license.

There are still questions about whether the governing body wants to create a brand new series to rival EAFC. A rivalry between two powerhouse football titles would indeed be good for both series, as they would like to improve drastically to one-up each other.
