With my FIFA 23 review out and circling the web, many fans are still on the fence about FIFA 23‘s overall gameplay. Many football fanatics still think FIFA’s gameplay is the same as previous iterations. On the other hand, others see the improvements Electronic Arts have made over the last two years. With that being said, is FIFA 23 gameplay the best in the near 30-year series?
During this week’s episode of the SGO Press Pass, Mike Knoxxx and I have a conversation about FIFA 23‘s gameplay and overall presentation.
SGO Press Pass: Is FIFA 23‘s Gameplay The Best in The Series?
Jake Jacobson: Curtis, you’re in the driver’s seat; let’s talk about FIFA.
Curtis Russell: Okay, actually, the first thing I do want to ask is- Mike, you said you play FIFA just about every year. How- in you’re opinion, how does it feel (FIFA 23’s gameplay) from last year to this year?
Mike: FIFA guys, don’t get mad at me. It feels the same; to me, how it moves. I don’t think EA and any of their game platforms need to alter so much than what fans bases would like to believe. As long as the engine keeps it moving and keeps being fluent. I think FIFA with NHL are two of the best games they (EA Sports) have.
Curtis: I agree with you in a lot of ways, I got a lot of flack on my review because I praised the- overall gameplay this year. I thought adding in those (6000+) animations- its one of the most fluid FIFA games in a very long time. The overall jist of FIFA’s gameplay I do not like, but I’ve just come to terms with it; that’s the thing about it.
FIFA 23 Gameplay
Since Electronic Arts introduced Hypermotion technology in FIFA 22, the series gameplay received many new animations and features. How many animations? A whopping 6000 plus. In return, FIFA’s gameplay has been smoother and more responsive. I am curious to see if EA continues updating Hypermotion with EA Sports FC or will the company completely overhaul the gameplay. We will know sometime next year.
