Following the recent delay of UFL, another football title catches a minor setback, Football Manager 25.
Developing Football Manager 25
Sports Interactive has been relatively transparent with its fans about the development of its newest football title. The FM series is going through one of the biggest transitions ever: moving to the Unity Engine.
In a recent blog post, the team admitted that moving to Unity has sparked a few issues. One is that some features, like ‘shouting,’ would need to be redeveloped and reintroduced in FM26. Sports Interactive has shared its vision of FM25 through screenshots and promised fans that the official game announcement is coming.
FM25 minor delay
On Wednesday morning, Sports Interactive posted another development update, this time informing fans that the official announcement is “shifting” to the end of September. However, the delays continued; the developers announced that FM25 would be delayed from its traditional yearly release of early November to late November. While this is a minor delay, surely some fans will be disappointed.
“We knew that moving the entire game to the Unity engine was going to be a complex endeavour. As we’ve gotten deeper into the process and gained learnings, it’s fair to say it’s been trickier than we originally anticipated.”
The FM developer ran into issues not only due to transiting the game to the Unity Engine, which led the team to drop a few more features from the game. One of the features is ‘international management’. The developers considered removing this feature due to complications and the fact that only 5.6% of PC saves used this feature.
Lastly, the update mentioned that players’ weight will be removed from this year’s game because “women’s body types are very different from men’s and their weight fluctuates a lot more, often weekly.”
Women’s football is one of the biggest features coming to Football Manager 25, and it has proved to be an enormous task for Sports Interactive as it bring its tactical football management game into a new era.

It’s a fun way to reflect on experiences and see how much you’ve changed over time – kind of like how FM is evolving with each release.
While the delay of FM25 may be disappointing for some, it underscores the developers’ commitment to delivering a polished game that meets player expectations. As the team continues to navigate the complexities of the Unity transition, fans can look forward to a more slope game experience when the game launches later this November. Stay tuned for further updates as the announcement date approaches!
