Konami have recently announced their new partnership with Liverpool F.C. for their upcoming PES titles. PES 2017 is just the first.
This is exciting news, particularly for Liverpool fans. PES will enjoy “unrivalled access” to the Liverpool first team players, which will help them to replicate the players’ unique appearances and playing styles. Manager Jürgen Klopp’s famed ‘Gegenpress’ style will also be recreated, all to sounds of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ booming from the stands. Also, expect to see fully replicated kits, as well as their famous stadium of Anfield.
This partnership also means that Liverpool will feature in PES promotional material as well. So perhaps we have not seen the last of Jordan Henderson gracing the covers of our football sims. Joking aside, teaming up with one of the largest and most famous football clubs in the world is a fair strategy to gain an edge of their rivals, FIFA. The only real problem is that there are no huge names in the Liverpool squad, even if there are good players.
An added little bonus for players of the myClub game mode is that Liverpool legends will be available to add to their home-grown squads, however full details are yet to be released. Robbie Fowler? Michael Owen? Emile Heskey? Surely all of these legends will be available. Maybe even a sneaky Gerrard. Who knows?
One thing’s for sure; the Reds will be looking fine when PES comes out.
PES 2017 will be released September 13 for North and South America, and September 15 for Europe and Asia.
