Back in August, we wrote about the eSports tournaments that would be in eFootball PES 2020. Today, Konami revealed details on the structure for PES‘ e.Football.Open eSports competition.
PES eSports Tournaments
e.Football.Pro and e.Football.Open are the two major eSports competitions that are featured in eFootball PES 2020. Konami announced today that registration for e.Football.Open will start in November, and online play will begin in December. For those unfamiliar with e.Football.Open, the competition is a 1v1 online eSports tournament that will be open to all PES players.
e.Football.Open replaced what used to be the PES League Competition. Players will select one soccer club in the Matchday mode during the registration period next month. From there, gamers will use that club for the duration of the e. Football.Open competition. Clubs that will be available to gamers will mirror the ones in e.Football.Pro, and will be announced soon.
e.Football.Open will have three levels (Basic, Intermediate, and Expert), and players will be divided into those levels depending on their ratings in Online Divisions. Only players in the “Expert” level will be eligible to progress to the Regional and the World Finals. In addition, “Expert” players will be ranked alongside other players who use the same gaming platform and have selected the same club. The top 50 for each will then move on to the Online Finals.
Here are the key dates for the e.Football.Open competition (dates subject to change):
- Online Registration – Mid November 2019
- Online Qualifiers – December 2019 to February 2020
- Online Finals – February to March 2020
- Regional Finals – May 2020
- World Finals – July 2020
More information on each competition stage can be found here. Konami also noted that more details on e.Football.Pro, which is “KONAMI’s top-flight tournament that will only include professional, real-world football clubs from Europe playing with authentic squads,” will be announced at a later date.
