With all the buzz surrounding the competition this year, Konami has made sure fans haven’t forgetten about them as the company has released the first trailer for Pro Evolution Soccer 2018.
Amid the flurry of glamor shots, it did show off some notable features. Having three players on the same team is possible, making online play and couch co-op with your friends more friendly. Stats for each player, including a “co-op courtesy rating,” gives players a better idea of where they excel and where they can improve.
A Random Select option showed what appeared to be two teams getting players shuffled around, receiving teammates from different teams.
Football Life returns as PES’ story-driven experience. While it doesn’t reveal anything too specific, it does appear to let you build a character and level him up.
The video takes a few moments to showcase three important categories: myClub, random select, and co-op.
The longest portion of the video shows off the character’s fancy footwork as they weave through other players. In the close-ups, some of the models look like they may have a vacation home on the slopes of the Uncanny Valley. While slightly off-looking character models are hard to ignore, they don’t make or break the game. The gameplay itself is what matters.
From the footage, the animations for passing, score, and weaving look smooth. Some of their animations almost look too quick and responsive, but lessening input lag for the player might easily explain that.
Though a lot can change from the release trailer to game release, the reveal trailer does look promising, as does the series’ 17 years of experience.
And of course, pre-order bonuses pop up at the end of the video. Although, if you check the fine print, it says “The Items are for PlayStation 4.” The pre-orders for PC and Xbox One are a bit different. So if you are pre-ordering, check them out to make sure you know what you’re getting.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 comes out on September 12, 2017 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam).
