Rumor: EA Sports FC will feature a Online Career Mode

As we await the official announcement of FIFA 23, some news about EA’s next generation of football titles has leaked. Not much is known about how Electronic Arts will kick off EA Sports FC, but there are some early rumblings of a potential Online Career Mode. This rumor is coming from none other than FUTZone via Twitter.

EA Sports FC Online Career Mode

FUTZone’s tweet claims EA Sports FC’s Online Career Mode will be free to play and come out in October of 2023; we assume that’s when the game will be released.

Online Career Modes have featured in other EA Sports games like the Madden series. EA’s ambition to develop this feature could have something to do with the recent split with FIFA (company). Earlier this year, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson blamed FIFA for the lack of new features coming to EA’s lucrative football title.

Our players tell us they want more modes of play, different things beyond 11v11 and different types of gameplay. I would tell you; it’s been a fight to get FIFA to acknowledge the types of things that we want to create because they say our license only covers certain categories.

However, we don’t know whether this was blame-shifting from Andrew Wilson to protect his company or if FIFA really has a foothold on what modes and features are put into their licensed football game. We will find out when the EA Sports FC arrives in late 2024.

But First, FIFA 23

FIFA 23 will be the last game in a 30-year-long relationship between EA and the football governing body. While we thought we would see the first look at the game in June; a new article by Tom Henderson suggests that we could see EA’s latest FIFA title in late July.
