Sports Interactive’s struggles continue. The team has revealed that Football Manager 25 will be delayed until March 2025. The decision to further delay its football title comes a month after its initial delay to late November.
Football Manager 25 hits a massive delay
On Thursday, Sports Interactive released a blog post on its website revealing that FM25 will be delayed until March 2025. The post states that the additional time from the first delay “has not been sufficient,” and more time is needed.
In addition, the post states that the previous set of timelines for reveals was “tight,” and the developers didn’t want to rush the game and compromise the high standards they’ve set for themselves.
“FM25 is the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation. We simply cannot compromise the delivery of this crucial juncture in Football Manager’s history by rushing to release it in November.”
The overall fan reaction to the latest delay has been met with sympathy, with some fans suggesting that Sports Interactive should skip this year’s game entirely and focus on Football Manager 26.
Sports Gamers Online has contacted the developers for comment but has not received a reply.
Football Manager 25 continues to struggle in development
Football Manager 25 is the first game in the series to be developed in the Unity Engine. Transitioning to this new engine would usher in a new era for the series and propel it to new heights.
However, last month, the developers announced they would remove certain features from the game and possibly add them back for future titles. Some of the removed features include international management and player weight. It’s been clear from the first delay that SI was struggling with the game’s development and deadlines.
Football Manager 25 is set to release on PC in 2025, with other console release dates to follow.
