With only a week to go until the release of EA’s final FIFA game, FIFA 23, it was announced Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond will be joining the roster. This joint partnership between Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment and EA sees the likeness of Jason Sudeikis and iconic characters from the show’s AFC Richmond.
Ted Lasso & AFC Richmond in FIFA 23
EA says this deal with Warner Brothers continues to blur the lines between gaming, entertainment, and the real world of football. Ted Lasso is a popular tv show about an American coach managing AFC Richmond who is in the top flight of English football. Since the show’s release, Ted Lasso has been a hit with the American audience. While simultaneously showing the country the culture and passion behind the world’s sport.
“In a short time and with limited prior experience, Ted Lasso has become a cultural phenomenon, bringing the passion of football and the power of belief to life for millions of fans across the globe,” said David Jackson, VP of Brand for EA SPORTS FIFA.
Many assets from Ted Lasso will feature in FIFA 23. Ted Lasso will be a choice amongst managers to use in career mode. In addition, AFC Richmond’s crest and kits will be available in career mode, FUT, and Pro Clubs. AFC Richmond players will also make an appearance in the game alongside their beloved coach. This includes:
- Roy Kent
- Jamie Tartt
- Sam Obisanya
- Dani Rojas
- and more.
Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso will be available as a selectable manager of AFC Richmond in Career Mode. Fans can play as their favorite mustachioed manager and run the show for AFC Richmond or any team of their choosing. In addition, players can also create their own Manager or select a real-world licensed manager to take control of AFC Richmond as well as create a player and join the AFC Richmond squad in a league of their choosing.
FIFA 23 will be released on September 30, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One.
