Tampa Bay Rays Bringing Back MLB The Show Tournament, Registration Now Open

The MLB season is well underway at this point, and gamers at this point have sunk tons of time into MLB The Show 24. By this point, hundreds of gamers have reached World Series in Ranked Seasons or have gone flawless in Battle Royale. If you are one of those players and want to put your MLB The Show 24 skills to the test, then the Tampa Bay Rays have some big news for you!

Sunburst Invitational 2

This week, registration officially opened for the second annual Sunburst Invitational. This is an MLB The Show tournament hosted by the Tampa Bay Rays. However, instead of using your Diamond Dynasty squad, all players use the Tampa Bay Rays live roster during the tournament.

Last year’s event was one of the best MLB The Show tournaments anyone has ever put on. The competition and production value were top-notch. Last year’s tournament marked a historic milestone for MLB The Show’s eSports scene by hosting the first LAN final for a major tournament. In the end, Zazzi (@Zazzi), came out victorious and claimed the title and the prize money.

This year, Zazzi is coming back to defend his title. However, a few things have changed going into year two of the tournament. The number of qualifiers has expanded from two to four. The winners of each qualifier will move on to the in-person semifinals on August 1, with the winners of that event playing the next day for the championship. These live events will take place at the Coastal Creative in St. Petersburg, FL. The event will be broadcast on the Tampa Bay Rays Twitch and TikTok channels. MLB The Show streamer Rich Veit (@ScuffyMcGee) will return on commentary for the live event, joined this year by fellow streamer Tyler Dimmu (@DaddyDimmu).

As mentioned earlier, registration is now open for the first qualifying tournament and closes either on April 18th or after 500 registrations. The full schedule for the tournament, as well as rules, regulations, and broadcast links, visit RaysBaseball.com/Gaming.
