5. CB- Jalen Myrick (Jacksonville Jaguars)
Height: 5-10
40 Time: 4.28
Vertical: 37.5 inches

He can’t catch, can’t cover either but hey he ran a 4.28 40. So you already know what it is…..

4. DE- Jordan Willis (Cincinnati Bengals)
40 Time: 4.53
3 Cone: 6.85

Willis’s 4.53 40 time was the 2nd highest 40 time for defensive ends at the combine, yes…. somebody was even faster than him. On top of that that, he also had the fastest 3 cone, so I’m already getting Danielle Hunter vibes in terms of speed, acceleration ratings from him.

I also expect him to have a decent bull rush rating to start, so he should be a pretty good pass rusher right out the package. During the draft coverage thou, they constantly mentioned his poor change of direction thou, so his agility rating might be low to start despite his crazy 3 cone.  Yet, if all else fails and he has nothing but speed, he ran a 4.53 40, so he’ll be a great blitzer/pass rusher off the edge from Day 1.

3. S- Obi Melifonwu (Oakland Raiders)
Height: 6-4
40 Time: 4.40
Vertical: 44 inches

Is he a faster Kam Chancellor? a younger George Illoka? Or even the next Pat Watkins (remember him?) In terms of Madden, this dude is going to wreak havoc. One of his main knocks is what you expect from a younger defender. Not disciplined, he’s over aggressive at times, etc.. But this is Madden, and until you can truly expose stupid safeties he’s going to make a lot of noise in that Raiders secondary with Karl Joseph. This beast is 6-4, ran a 4.4 40 and had a 44 inch vert.

So, if you user your safety he’s the perfect guy for you and even if you don’t he has the highest upside of a rookie safety that I’ve seen in the last few Maddens. Also, that possibility of moving him to corner back in your league. I’m just saying

2. CB- Kevin King (Green Bay Packers)
Height: 6-3
40 Time: 4.43
3 Cone: 6.56
Vertical: 39.5

If you built the perfect Madden corner back in the lab, or create a player. I’m pretty sure he would resemble Kevin King’s everything. He’s 6 foot 3, ran a 4.43 40 and had the 2nd highest vertical for a corner at 39.5 inches, he’s already 6-3!!! Not to mention he was first for corners in the 3 Cone, 20 Yard Shuttle and 60 Yard Shuttle. Now the reason he wasn’t a Top 5 pick with those measurables won’t show up in Madden.

He doesn’t play as fast as he does in shorts, struggles vs smaller receivers, can’t tackle. You know the usual for tall corner backs. Well at least the first two. It all comes down to if his speed, agility and acceleration ratings are as good as his combine number show, because if they are he’ll be a hot commodity in Madden 18.

1. WR- Curtis Samuel (Carolina Panthers)
Age: 20
40 Time: 4.31
Vertical: 37 inches

Like at Ohio State, what is he? Is he a running back or wide receiver. But that’s what’s great about Madden you can put him wherever you want. As he’s an inbetweener, I don’t expect him to have even average catch or carry rating. He’ll probably be hugging in the 60’s, but that 4.31 though…snd he actually had 18 reps on the bench press and a 37 inch vert, so he’s not just your average speed guy like a Jeff Demps or Mario Alford.

He’ll have other traits to help you make your decision on what position you ultimately play him at. So it makes sense why Curtis Samuel sits atop Sports Gamers Online Top 10 Madden 18 Rookie Sleeper List.

So, Sports Gamers, do you agree with the list, and, if not, who do you have your eyes set on using as soon as you get your hands on the game. Leave it in the comments down below.

And stay tuned for more Madden 18 news as we get closer to the release date.

Update on the Future of NCAA Football

Christopher Walker

Christopher Walker

I have been playing football games since 99’. All starting with the NFL Game Day demo and NFL Blitz on PlayStation, then I moved on to Madden for the next 5 years, where I really didn't know what I was going yet. I flirted with NFL 2K for a year, but have played Madden and NCAA (up until its demise last year) ever since steadily improving my game each year and developing a passion for the X’s and O’s part of football.
