UFC 3: Striking System Developer Discussion

The build up to EA Sports UFC 3 is in full swing, and one of the gameplay mechanics that many may have noticed a change to was the game’s striking system.

Building a new system from the inside out, the game’s striking has seen a massive overhaul that features the ability to use range to your advantage, focus more on stamina and even learn specialized combos depending on the athlete’s fighting style.

We recently sat down and spoke with lead gameplay engineer Geoff Harrower from EA Sports about UFC 3 and its gameplay. In part two of our mini-series on the game, Harrower answers our questions about the striking system, the game’s learning curve, keeping it from becoming a button masher, and more!

If you missed part one of our series on the game’s submission and ground game, be sure to go back and check it out.

UFC 3 launches on February 2, 2018 on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Stick with Sports Gamers Online for more UFC 3 news, tips and insight!
