It is a quick turnaround period for EA as UFC 6 is reportedly in development. According to Mike Straw of Insider Gaming, 2025 is the release window for the sixth franchise installment. UFC 5, the fifth installment, was released in October 2023 for next gen-consoles. It was met with generally favorable to mixed reviews.
A quick Turnaround for EA
When EA Sports UFC 5 was released, EA was met with fan backlash for many reasons. The career mode was lacking, and the roster left more to be desired. The exclusive fighters, which featured Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali, had no unique move sets.
However, the game was praised for its stunning visuals, and the ground game was retooled for seamless submissions.
Despite the backlash, EA responded by providing semi-regular roster updates with ranked fighters. They have also kept open communication with fans.
EA UFC 6 Release Date?
EA is no stranger to quick development cycles, as their yearly sports releases usually have quick turnarounds. However, three years passed from the release of UFC 4 to 5. The UFC games under the EA umbrella are typically released every two years.
Straw stated that although UFC 6 is slated for a 2025 release, it is plausible that it could be pushed back to 2026. He then reemphasized EA’s desire for a 2025 release. Due to the lackluster response of EA UFC 5, EA looks to regain the enthusiasm the series once had.
In addition, Straw revealed details that EA will also look to revive the Fight Night Franchise.
