One of the most requested modes for WWE 2K22 was a GM mode. 2K answered fans’ prayers with the introduction of MyGM last in last year’s game. While the mode provided some entertainment, it ultimately left fans feeling like it was a little undercooked. With only four General Managers to choose from, and the ability to only play one season, left a bad taste in a lot of gamers’ mouths. This year, 2K hopes to right those wrongs in WWE 2K23.

Off the bat, 2K has added more GMs to make a total of nine in WWE 2K23. Players can now take control of Xavier Woods, Tyler Breeze, Kurt Angle, Eric Bischoff, and Mick Foley. In addition, two new brands have been added: NXT 2.0 and WCW, as well as new championship titles. To go along with the standard major titles, we have the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the Raw and Smackdown Tag Team titles, the NXT North American Championship, and for WCW, the Hardcore Championship.

Things get even better with the addition of seven new match types for a total of 12. The new match types are Steel Cage, Backstage Brawl, Falls Count Anywhere, Last Man Standing, Submission, Iron Man, and last but not least, Tornado Tag. This should make fans very happy, as having only five match types last year could make things a bit boring as you progressed through the season. And speaking of the season, there are now seasons. In fact, there are now unlimited seasons adding another layer of replayability to the mode.

As far as the general concept of MyGM, it looks like much remains the same as far as finances and choices. However, with so many other additions now including seasonal challenges, Hall of Fame Trophies, Shake Ups, Slammies, and what is being called “Keepers,” the experience promises to be much richer. The future of MyGM certainly looks bright right now. Let’s see how everything shakes up on March 17.
