Although we knew it was coming, WWE 2K25 has been officially announced alongside a brand-new and official announcement trailer. In the trailer, we see bits of what players can expect in terms of gameplay but there are also a few hidden gems like new match types and more.
WWE 2K25 Official Announcement Trailer
WWE 2K25 looks to acknowledge the legacy of the OTC, Roman Reigns complete with a Showcase Mode highlighting the lengthy championship reign of one Roman Reigns. The trailer goes on to highlight memorable moments throughout his title reign. This includes big moments like his match against John Cena, and pivotal story beats from the Bloodline saga. In addition, the trailer reveals several roster inclusions like CM Punk, John Cena, and current WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes. However, we also see a few firsts in the series as the trailer reveals Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline in its entirety. Making their WWE 2K debut is Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu.
New Features, New Matches
As all good trailers do, the reveals and teases don’t stop. Merely 1 second into the trailer, WWE 2K25 highlights the series-debuting Underground match. Given the match includes rosters members at ringside, this may also mean the game will include the Lumberjack match. Previous titles have been limited to 8 superstars in the ring. It will be interesting to see how 2K25 overcomes this for matches such as the Underground match.
Finally, after much rumor and speculation, we have the official reveal of The Island of Relevancy. This is said to be similar to The City in NBA 2K, providing players an interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes. The Island offers players the opportunity to explore and challenge other players, while vying to earn a WWE contract by impressing “The Original Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. By completing quests, taking on challenges, competing in live events, earning unlockables, and upgrading and customizing MySUPERSTARS through multiple storyline chapters, The Island allows players to step outside the ropes and “Rule Beyond the Ring.” It’s important to note, the mode will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
