Some major news has dropped today from EA, as they have announced a new partnership with Valve to bring their games to the Steam platform.

EA and Steam

EA announced today that EA Access will launch on the Steam platform next spring. Before then, the first game from EA that will be available on Steam will be Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Fallen Order will launch on the platform on November 15 and is available for pre-order starting today.

In a press release today, both companies expressed their excitement on the deal and touted that this move will benefit gamers. EA CEO Andrew Wilson said, “This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world. Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play.”

Valve’s Gabe Newell echoed those sentiments, saying, “This is a good day for gamers. We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam, but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world.”

Over the next couple of months, EA will make a number of games available on the Steam platform, including The Sims 4, Unravel 2, Apex Legends, FIFA 20 and Battlefield V. The latter three, however, will not be available until 2020. Also as part of this deal, gamers who are playing on Origin and Steam will be able to play one another.
