Today, we got a teaser of the new features and changes coming to Road to the Show in MLB The Show 25. This includes the new high school and college games, a new progression system, and new quick time events. More details on these features will be revealed later this week.
Progression System
The biggest reveal from today’s Deep Dive video was the reveal of the new progression system coming to Road to the Show in MLB The Show 25. With this new system, players will have full control over increasing their attributes throughout their career. Players will earn tokens during gameplay and for completing goals. These tokens can be spent to increase either individual attributes or groups of attributes.
Perks
Along with progressing attributes, you will be able to equip perks and equipment to add to your abilities. The new perks system will allow you to use tokens to unlock and upgrade your perks to fit your playstyle. You’ll also be able to customize perks with additional effects as well. Once you unlock a perk, it is unlocked forever.
The Amateur Years
We also got another look at the high school and college games coming to Road to the Show. This year, you’ll start your Road to the Show in your senior year of high school, as you try to lead your team to the state championship. As you play, your performance will get you noticed by college scouts and MLB teams.
After high school, you’ll get an opportunity to attend the MLB Draft Combine which was added into the game last year. After the combine, you’ll get drafted and have to decide to either sign with the team that drafted you or go to college and re-enter the draft later to try and become the #1 overall pick.
There are eight schools featured in Road to the Show to choose from: Texas, Cal State Fullerton, TCU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, LSU, UCLA, and South Carolina. Each school will have different things to offer you. The four parts of each school’s offer are exposure, skill development, packages, and perk. We will learn more about what each of these mean later this week.
Quick Time Events
As we learned last week, there have been several new quick time events added to Road to the Show and Player Lock in MLB The Show 25. Most of the ones shown in the Deep Dive today were repeats of the ones we saw last week. The one new event was for when your player is on base. When a pitch is thrown in the dirt, you will sometimes get to see the arc of the ball before it hits the dirt, letting you know that you can try to advance a base. Increasing your baserunning aggressiveness rating will increase how early you see this arc, allowing you to get a better jump.
