MotoGP 25 is the next entry in Milestone’s long running series. After being a newcomer to the series last year, I was excited to hop back in and see what Milestone was able to add to this year’s game. While the game has already released, and I wanted to give you my initial impressions of the game, ahead of our full review releasing later this week.
Arcade Experience
The biggest addition to MotoGP 25 is the new Arcade playstyle that has been added to the game. The goal of this is to give new players a gentler learning curve. This playstyle aims to make it, so players only have to focus on their acceleration, braking, and lean.
In my early hours with the game, I have played mainly on this Arcade playstyle. If you watched my review last year when I was a new player, it took a very long time for me to get the hang of the game. This year, after about 20 minutes on Arcade playstyle I was feeling like I had a good feeling for the game. I felt myself not stressing as much about each small thing and allowed myself to enjoy just driving around the track more. Making those tight turns was still by no means easy, but it was more forgiving than I remember last year’s game was. After experiencing the Arcade playstyle, I’m not sure if I’ll go back to the Pro playstyle or not.
Race Off Mode
The other big addition in MotoGP 25 is the new Race Off events. These events allow players to try out three new styles of racing: Minibike, Motard, and Flat Track. These new race styles come with their own unique tracks, bikes, and gameplay physics. These events are available both as standalone races as well as in Career mode.
In my short time with these new races, I already feel like they are a great addition to the game. Each one takes some time getting used to, as each plays differently from the main races. These events as a good change of pace and make your rider in Career mode feel more like a well-rounded professional.
Visuals and Audio
Visually, MotoGP 25 is absolutely gorgeous to look at. MotoGP 25 is the first in the series to be built in Unreal Engine 5, and it definitely shows. From the unique lighting to the stunning backgrounds, everything in this game shows how much effort the artists put in to make it look good. The Flat Track races especially look really good, as you can see your bike kick up dirt as you accelerate.
The audio also remains top notch this year. The different types of bikes each have their own unique sounds for accelerating and braking as you go around a corner. I really love how in depth they went to make each of these new race types feel authentic.
Those are my initial impressions after my first few hours with MotoGP 25. If you want to hear my full in-depth thoughts on the game, as well as more information about Career mode and how the move to Unreal Engine 5 affects the game, make sure to check out our full review which will be out later this week.
