Just days after Microsoft released full tech specs for its upcoming Xbox Series X, Sony has announced a surprise event that takes a “deep dive” into the architecture of the PlayStation 5 (PS5).

The event will air live on the official PlayStation blog, and will be hosted by the PS5’s lead system architect Mark Cerny.

Recently, SGO learned that, despite delay concerns, Sony was hopeful that the newest member of the PlayStation lineup was going to release on time.

“For the console to make it to launch and meet demand, production has to start by July at the latest,” SGO was told. “Right now, those higher up at Sony expect that to happen.”

What we know about the PlayStation 5

The Playstation 5 will feature 3D audio sound, Ultra HD Blu-Ray and an Ultra High Speed SSD. In addition, the PS5 will also have a new controller with haptics and adaptive triggers, as well as hardware-based ray tracing.
