Today, PlayStation held its latest Showcase, which showed off some of the new first and third-party games coming to PlayStation in the coming months. We saw reveals of upcoming titles like Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, Spider-Man 2, and much more. We also got a look at the next major hardware release from PlayStation, and it isn’t what many people thought it would be.

Project Q

During today’s Showcase, PlayStation showed off its newest handheld console launching later this year. The handheld is currently referred to as Project Q. This handheld will allow you to stream any game from your PS5 console using Remote Play over WiFi.

The console looks like you stuck the screen of a Nintendo Switch in the middle of a PS5 controller. The screen is an 8-inches and fully HD. The controller will have all the current features of the PS5 controller, including the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

This is a great announcement that is sure to have gamers excited. This will be PlayStation’s first handheld since the PlayStation Vita was discontinued in 2019. While we know very little about this new console, the possibilities for it are very exciting.

The fact that this is a streaming-focused handheld is the most interesting part of the announcement. Of course, the technology of streaming video games has come a long way since the days of Google Stadia. With high-speed fiber optic internet becoming more and more prevalent (we even have it here in Arkansas now), this could be the perfect time for video game streaming to take the next step. It will be interesting to see how fast of an internet connection you will need to stream games like Madden or NBA 2K.

The fact that it is basically being paired with the PS5 is also intriguing. The announcement said that this device will be used to stream games directly from your PS5. This makes it sound like there won’t be individual games sold for this handheld like the PSP and PS Vita had. Instead, you will stream games that are already in your PS5 library.

There are still plenty of questions to be answered for this new console. Hopefully, more will be revealed in the coming weeks as this handheld is set to release later this year.

I am making over $15k a month working online. I kept seeing how some people are able to earn a lot of money online, so I decided to look into it. I had luck to stumble upon something that totally changed my life. After 2 months of searching, last fv-02 month I received a paycheck for $15,397 for just working on the laptop for a few hours weekly.
