Sony Reveals All-New PS Plus Subscription

Sony has revealed the all-new PlayStation Plus. Rumor spread that Sony was working on a game-pass equivalent. After months of silence, Sony finally revealed Project Spartacus. 

Starting in June, Sony will be combining the PS+ subscription with PS Now into tiered subscriptions with varying prices. The tiers are as follows: PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and Playstation Plus Premium.

Each tier offers something different to enhance the gaming experience.

Benefits

  • Provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today, such as:
    • Two monthly downloadable games
    • Exclusive discounts
    • Cloud storage for saved games
    • Online multiplayer access
  • There are no changes for existing PlayStation Plus members in this tier.

Price* for PlayStation Plus Essential remains the same as the current price for PlayStation Plus.

President and CEO of Sony interactive Jim Ryan stated that the addition of tiers marks a new “evolution” for PS+. Sony will continue to work with first and third-party studios to bring more games to the all-new PS+ Plus.

He reiterated that Sony is dedicated to enhancing the gaming experience for everyone PlayStation owner. He concluded by saying, “We’re providing an early look at our new PlayStation Plus subscription service today, and we’ll plan to share more information with you as we get closer to launch.
