Today was the Nintendo Direct event where the new Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled. We learned a lot of new information about Nintendo’s next console. We learned that it will release June 5th. We learned that the system will cost $450. We also learned that some major sports series are coming to the device.
WWE 2K Comes to Switch 2
During today’s Nintendo Direct, we learned that the WWE 2K series will officially be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. While we don’t know when the series will debut on the new console, this is still major news for wrestling fans. This will be the first time the series has been on a Nintendo console since WWE 2K18 made the only appearance for the series on the original Nintendo Switch. Before that, you have to go all the way back to WWE ’13, which was released on the Nintendo Wii.
The return to Nintendo consoles is great for wrestling fans. The Nintendo 64 era of wrestling games are considered some of the best in history. We still don’t know much about what the first entry on Switch 2 will look like, or if it will include all of the modes and features from the other consoles. Still, wrestling fans have plenty to be excited about with this news.
NBA 2K Will Be on Switch 2
Alongside this news, we also learned that the NBA 2K series would also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. This news is much less surprising than the previous announcement. Every game in the series since NBA 2K18 has been released on Nintendo Switch. We’re not sure if the series will wait until NBA 2K26 to debut on the new console, or if an upgraded version of NBA 2K25 will launch alongside Switch 2 in June. We’re also unsure if the series will continue to support the original Nintendo Switch with NBA 2K26 and into the future.
