NHL 21 Update

SGO Insider

When the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, many hockey fans were left with the prior generation systems if they wanted their hockey fix.

It wasn’t until a year later that fans got the first “next-gen” NHL game with NHL 15 on the new systems.

Now, seven years later, it looks like it will be more of the same with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. When NHL 21 launches, it’s expected to be only available on the current-gen systems with the first next-gen release of the series not coming until NHL 22.

Of course, if you pick up an Xbox Series X you’ll be able to play NHL 21 on it, it just won’t be a game specifically made for that system. The same likely goes for the PS5, though, despite Sony’s promises of all PS4 games working on the next system at launch, that has yet to be set in stone.
