Thankfully, for lovers of the beautiful game, there are plenty of exciting football-themed escapades to get stuck into in the latest football game to hit the market, with fans being particularly excited about the game’s new and improved Ultimate Team mode.
For gamers, creating the most cohesive and dangerous Ultimate Team is a pleasurable experience. It can be a challenge at times, though. In the same way, fans put a great deal of thought into their Premier League fantasy football teams and assess the betting markets thoroughly before backing their beloved clubs in the weekend’s fixtures, they’re always looking at ways to gain an edge in Ultimate Team. While EA Sports FC might be a new game, nothing has changed in that respect. It’s still Ultimate Team, and forming a formidable squad with some strategic thinking can certainly go a long way.

Sure, you can grind packs and smash through some squad-building challenges, but it can become a tad boring. It, therefore, makes a lot of sense to build a team that is packed full of the variety of underrated players that you can populate it within the early stages. It won’t cost much, and you’ll have a solid chance of bringing more glory to your club in the future as you can save cash for the bigger players further down the line. Thankfully, if this is a tactic you’re considering employing or one that you’ve used in some of your other Ultimate Team campaigns in the past, then there are several viable talents for you to consider. Below is a look at just five of them.
Trevoh Chalobah – Chelsea
A player who has lost his place at Chelsea in the real world but is arguably the most underrated defender at the club in EA Sports FC 24, Trevoh Chalobah is the perfect defender to add to your side if you’re opting to build a Premier League-focused squad. Ideally, you’ll want to stick a shadow on Chalobah to create an even more reliable stopper, but his solid defensive statistics make him a standout pick for many, regardless. He can nail strikers with a strong sliding tackle; the Chelsea academy graduate is also tall and strong, while his ability to jockey and intercept is another highlight. Considering he costs a fraction of the price compared to some of the Blues’ other players in his position, Trevoh Chalobah is a great acquisition to make.
Alejandro Balde – Barcelona
Any experienced gamers in this area will be fully aware of the importance of adding a reliable full-back to your squad, particularly one with pace and the ability to improve the attacking ability of a team. Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde certainly fits the bill in that respect, with the Spanish left-sided defender being capable of enhancing any defensive unit and creating a weapon from wide areas in attack. Not only is Balde perfect for coming up against some of the game’s fastest players, but he is excellent at winning the ball back, and for his relatively cheap price at the time of writing, he’s one of the game’s very best bargains
Alvaro Morata – Atletico Madrid
Despite Alvaro Morata facing plenty of scrutiny throughout his career to date, he is a superb option for your EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team. The Spanish striker is capable of leading the line effectively by being the focal point any successful side requires; he can finish, his dribbling ability is impressive, and he is good in the air no matter who he is up against. An all-rounder that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, once you’ve acquired the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the future, you can look back at Morata fondly and remember just how important he was to your club in its early stages.
Aurelien Tchouameni – Real Madrid
Of course, if you’re plying your trade for one of the biggest clubs in the world, then you must have something about you. That’s certainly the case for Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, a go-to option in the middle of the park for many Ultimate Team connoisseurs. The French talent is capable of running the midfield thanks to an extremely solid 84-rated gold card, although some upgrades can elevate his abilities further and create one of the game’s most underrated performers. If you’re striving to build the perfect La Liga squad, then Aurelien Tchouameni has to be an early option.
Jeremie Frimpong – Bayer Leverkusen
A gem from the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is another fast full-back who is more than capable of elevating your team defensively. Operating on the right side of the defense, the attacking defender has a blistering pace, he’s comfortable on the ball, and he’s capable of nullifying some of the game’s most intimidating wide players, thanks to many solid defensive stats. Whether you’re keen to create a side filled with Dutch players or you’re aiming to build a club full of Bundesliga stars, Jeremie Frimpong is well worth looking at.
