Although FIFA Ultimate Team is extremely competitive and makes people sweat even on the weekends, not all users play the game just to be the best. Sometimes people just want to try as many cards as they can. In 2022, those in Canada have a lot more to enjoy in football than ever before. Seeing their country do amazingly in the world cup was surely a great feeling, and if you saw the odds, even the sports betting websites didn’t entirely make Canada a complete underdog team. Some of the Canadian players have shown an awful lot of promise in the highest level of club football too. Many have had their efforts reflected in FIFA 23. So, here’s our list of the top FUT cards in the game.
Top Canadian FUT Players in FIFA 23
1. Alphonso Davies
It’s impossible to talk about Canadian footballers and not start the discussion with Alphonso Davies. His base card is the definition of what a meta left-back is about. The base card was extremely useful in the early stages of the game, and that’s why it was trading somewhere around 60k-100k coins. Although, it’s still useful.
Although you don’t have to worry about his base card’s usability as EA released another exciting card of the young Canadian in their recent promo World Cup Stories. Thanks to his great performances in the world cup, Alphonso has earned himself a versatile, lethal card that can play both, as a left back and a left winger.
With a blistering 96 pace on the card along with 87 dribbling, you can easily slap a Gladiator, Backbone, or Sentinel on him, depending upon how you want to use him defensively. If you want to play him in the midfield, gladiator makes a lot more sense as it balances out his shooting and defending stats—86 overall defending and 89 shooting (with 96 finishing!).
A deadeye would also do great if you want to use him as a creator who is closer to the goal.
You can easily pair him with the likes of Mane (base and all the special cards), Goretzka PTG card, Sane (World Cup Stories and TOTW), and Gnabry’s PTG card.
2. Tajon Buchanan 85 (Dynamic Duos)
If you didn’t see a super sub with an afro, wildly penetrating your defense in the closing stages of the game, consider yourself lucky. He’s the ultimate super sub card that you can get by easily doable objectives in the game. The only underwhelming part about this card is the fact that it’s hard to give him full chemistry in the starting XI, as he plays for 1A Pro League’s side Club Brugge. But then, if you somehow manage to get him even 2 bars of chemistry, this card could prove to be really fun for you.
With 85 dribbling and 97 pace, you can easily focus on giving him the necessary upgrades in shooting and passing if you like. He can play as LW, RM, RW, and even as a CM (shoutout to his interesting 70 defending stats).
In terms of links, the only perfect link he could offer is with Dynamic Larin, who himself is a decent card but doesn’t quite fall into the meta category. Other than that, since he plays in the Belgian league, it’s natural to imagine him not having strong links to exciting players.
Though, you can still pair him with a few Canadian cards, which we will discuss later in this article.
3. Jonathan Osorio 85 (World Cup PTG)
Another fairly underrated but usable Canadian card that could excite you. The fact that he’s from MLS might give you some hope regarding the potential links. His primary position is CM, but he can play LM and CDM, which makes him a versatile card. With a High defensive and offensive work rate and a five-star weak foot, the Toronto FC midfielder has a lot of likable qualities to become a starter in a team featuring Canadian players.
He’s more suited to play in a b2b as his stats look a great mix of a bit of everything: Pace 80, Shooting 76, Passing 81, Dribbling 85, Defending 75, Physicality 81.
If you want to use him in a b2b role next to a holding midfielder, slapping a Shadow or an Anchor would be a good idea. If you want to use him in a more offensive role with two midfielders behind him, then a Hunter would make more sense for him, making his shooting 81 and pace 88.
4. Johnathan David 82 (TOTW)
Of course, we’re not going to forget the OG Canadian card that was quite a sensation in the last two editions (FIFA 22, 21) of this game.
David has had the reputation of being one of the most balanced cards in the game in the past versions, and that still holds true to a certain extent for this year’s FIFA as well. David’s high work rates coupled with a five-star weak foot, make him even more usable in the game.
In terms of chemistry styles, hunter and hawk would be perfect for him at this stage of the game.
He has strong links to Ligue 1 hero cards Papin, WC Okocha, Ginola, and Govou. Other than that, he has a strong link with World Cup Stories objectives card Weah.
