The term “esports” was coined to define the competitive, structured video gaming culture. Games like Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Overwatch, and Madden NFL are used for competitions between teams and leagues. Millions of spectators from around the globe watch these gamers in person at tournaments or at home on television or stream on their computers or mobile devices. Some sports betting companies in the UK also offer odds and bets on these games.

Popular gamers sometimes amass large fan bases by watching others play their games live on streaming networks like Twitch. While RTS (real-time strategy) games were the most popular in the past, today, we’ll show you the most popular games in esports.

Top eSports games of 2022

Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is the newest edition in the CS franchise. At its core, it’s a first-person shooter (FPS) with a strategic element, and its standard game mode pits two teams of five players against one another. One plays as the terrorists and the other as counter-terrorists. You’re out of the action for good if you’re killed in this game, unlike other shooters. Those who die in a sport may only return to cheer for their side in the subsequent round.

League of Legends

Two teams face off against one another on a traditional multiplayer online battle arena battlefield in the real-time strategy game League of Legends (LoL). There are over 150 playable champions (characters), with new ones being added over time, and each team has five members. These members may fill one of five roles: top lane, mid lane (carry), attack damage carry (ADC), support, or jungle.

Fortnite

The excitement surrounding the introduction of the Fortnite Battle Royale video game has not subsided. The basic premise is straightforward: one hundred people battle against each other over a massive field. There can only be one winner. Fortnite differs from previous Battle Royales because it places a premium on gathering materials and erecting constructions. These may give you an edge in combat or hide you from enemy fire.

Dota 2

This five-on-five, MOBA-style (Multiplayer online battle arena) game is similar to the aforementioned League of Legends. Dota 2’s visual appeal stems from its improved 3D models and gameplay that places less emphasis on pure mechanization in favor of a greater emphasis on strategy. The game is as diverse as its inspiration, thanks to the selection of over 120 unique heroes and five unique playable roles. Dota 2 has recently become the game preferred by the industry’s top professionals in esports.

Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment, makers of World of Warcraft, have combined first-person shooters with multiplayer online battle arenas. The gameplay resembles a first-person shooter. You may choose from various characters, each having access to a unique arsenal and four unique powers. Using this to one’s advantage, one may drive opponents to their knees.

We can say that esports games are improving, and they’re experiencing astonishing growth in the last couple of years. Something that started in LAN networks and games between friends has become a worldwide event with millions of followers. Only the future can tell what will come next for the esports scene.
