Just after midnight eastern time on February 2, (2/2 I see what you did there), Derek Jeter appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During the interview, Jimmy and Jeter announced Derek Jeter would be gracing the cover of the collector’s edition of MLB The Show 23.
MLB The Show had said that they would announce more information about their collector’s edition on February 2nd, but this was not how most people thought it would happen. Earlier in the day, the MLB The Show Twitter account tweeted that the collector’s edition was on deck. When fans of the series saw Derek Jeter would be appearing on The Tonight Show this same evening, many, including myself, stayed up late to see if Jeter would mention any kind of return to the game. Not only will he now be in the game, but he graces a beautiful cover.
Fans of MLB The Show went crazy on Twitter after the announcement! Jeter has not been in MLB The Show since his retirement following the 2014 season. After nearly a decade, fans will finally be able to play with one of the most recognizable faces of baseball from the past 20 years.
