While EA Sports hasn’t published a baseball video game on consoles since 2007, they aren’t entirely out of the baseball game. Last year, after their acquisition of Glu Mobile, EA Sports published Tap Sports Baseball 22. This was the latest release in the long-running mobile series.

MLB Tap Sports Baseball 23
Now, EA Sports is getting ready to release the next entry in the series. On their Twitter page, EA Sports MLB Tap Sports Baseball unveiled their cover athlete and release window for the next game. 2022 AL Rookie of the Year Julio Rodriguez will be the cover star for MLB Tap Sports Baseball 23. The game is scheduled to release in March 2023. This year’s release will be the tenth in the popular series.
Rodriguez burst onto the scene last year with the Seattle Mariners. At the age of 21, he hit 28 HRs and stole 25 bases while hitting .284. He also was selected as an All-Star and won a Silver Slugger award.
MLB Tap Sports Baseball 23 is just one of several MLB-licensed video games that will be released in the coming weeks. MLB The Show 23 will release on March 28th. Meanwhile, Out of the Park Baseball 24 scheduled their release for March 24th. No matter how you choose to play games, there will be options for you just in time for the start of the new MLB season.
EA Sports Baseball
EA Sports has had success in the past with baseball video games. The popular MVP Baseball series ran from 1995 to 2005. The MLB version of this series ended when Take-Two Interactive signed an exclusive licensing deal with MLB as a response to EA Sports doing the same with the NFL. This deal allowed Take-Two to be the only developer outside of console manufacturers Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to make MLB licensed video games. EA Sports made a couple of college baseball games under the MVP Baseball name, with the last one coming out in 2007.
