The term “esports” was coined to define the competitive, structured video gaming culture. Everything began with games like Starcraft, CS 1.6, Dota 2, and League of Legends. If you are a fan of sports games, now is the perfect time to join in. Regardless if you’re playing FIFA, PES, NBA 2K, or Madden, all of them have competitions between teams and leagues. Millions of spectators from around the globe watch these gamers in person at tournaments or at home on television or stream on their computers or mobile devices. Some sports betting companies in the UK also offer odds and bets on these esports games. That said, let’s look at some of the most popular sports esports games from 2022.

Best Sports Esports Games in 2022

FIFA 2022

FIFA is a football game available on consoles and PC. Since the World Cyber Games (WCG) launch in 2000, the game has been the official representative of the tournament. Several leagues, including Electronic Sports League (ESL), The Virtual Bundesliga, and others, host FIFA events, such as FIFAe World Cup. Germany has the biggest community of players when we’re talking about FIFA and hosts most of the big leagues that are being televised. ESL and ESWC have been hosting FIFA competitions for over a decade now, and they’re still going strong.

Rocket League

Rocket League is something that just can’t be missed. When you’re looking at the other sports games, they’re all trying to be as realistic as possible. In this game, it’s quite the opposite. Here you’re playing a version of football, where you’re controlling flying cars with rocket engines instead of a football team, and a separate player controls every car.

There are regular competitions on Twitch, ESL, Major League Gaming, as well as the central competitive network for the game – Psyonix Studios. In season 2021-2022, the reward pool for Psyonix’s tournament was $6,000,000, growing with every passing year.

eFootball

When we mention FIFA, we can’t miss its direct competitor – Pro Evolution Soccer, or eFootball. The two games are leaders in the football game communities, and no one can tell if one is better than the other. PES has its own tournaments as well, and they’re all hosted by Konami. The first leagues started in 2003, and until 2010 only European teams could join. After 2010 the tournament was opened globally.

NBA 2K League

NBA 2K League started on the 9th of February, 2017. It was launched with the combined efforts of the NBA (National Basketball Association) and Take-Two Interactive (the game studio behind the 2K franchise). When the tournament started, just 17 out of the 30 NBA teams had their own team in the esports tournament. As of 2022, that number has risen to 24.

Madden NFL 22-23

The American football franchise, Madden, is still going strong after all these years. Despite not being really popular in Europe, it still has a strong fanbase. Madden is one of the newest sports in esports games, compared to the others, but it still has seen significant growth. The Madden NFL League was started with the combined work of EA Sports and ESPN Original Entertainment.

In conclusion, we can say that in the last couple of years, the community surrounding the esports game has grown, and there are many more genres and titles that can be played competitively. It’s not only for RTS and FPS games but a place where every player can show their talent and dedication, regardless if they’re playing CS:GO, Fortnite, FIFA, or eFootball
