Today, MLB The Show 24 announced the format for this year’s eSports program. Along with a new community event, a new pro circuit format has been created to find out who are the best players in North America. These players will compete over several months for their share of the $100,000 prize pool.
Bullpen Bash
The first event announced today is the new Bullpen Bash. This community event is open to all players on any supported console. The qualifier will take place on May 18th and 19th, with the top eight players advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs will be on June 1st and 2nd. The payouts for the top eight players are listed below:
- 1st Place: $6,000
- 2nd Place: $4,000
- 3rd-4th Place: $1,500
- 5th-8th Place: $500
Registration for the Bullpen Bash is now open and closes on May 15th.
Championship Series
The MLB The Show 24 Championship Series will serve as the premier eSports tournament this year. This event will combine the Summer and Fall Circuits from previous years, along with a Wild Card round. This tournament will have the very best of the best in the MLB The Show community competing for their share of the $100,000 prize pool.
The Summer and Fall Circuits will function similarly to how they have in the past. Two Qualifiers will be held for each Circuit, with the top four players from each qualifier advancing to that Circuit’s Upper Round Playoffs, with the following 16 players advancing to the Lower Round Playoffs. The Upper Round Playoffs include an 8-player round-robin followed by a 4-player, single-elimination bracket. The Lower Round Playoffs are a single, 32-player single-elimination bracket.
Players that place within the top 40 in each of the Circuits will earn Circuit Points. These points will determine who will qualify for the Grand Finals. The six players with the most Circuit Points after both Circuits have concluded will be guaranteed spots in the Grand Finals. Meanwhile, players ranked 7-14 will qualify for the Wild Card tournament. The Wild Card tournament will be a double-elimination bracket, with the top two players advancing to the Grand Finals.
