Excluding eSports from the Olympics 2024 is a Huge Missed Opportunity

The Olympic Games is one of the world’s premier sporting events, drawing millions to watch and attend each time it occurs every four years. Paris will host the 2024 edition of this sporting spectacle that brings together some of the world’s best athletes to vie for gold medals, but some may no longer be as invested, namely esports.

Excluding eSports from the Olympics 2024 is a Huge Missed Opportunity

Could the eSports community take an interest in Paris 2024?

Before this year’s event began, there had been much talk and speculation regarding its inclusion of eSports as a competitive sport. Many would have felt that its increasing acceptance was reason enough for inclusion; however, organizers decided against including it in their list of sporting disciplines.

As proof, organizers acknowledged its significance by hosting the Olympic Esports Series 2023 event this March – which proved highly successful despite not being considered for inclusion into the main Olympic Games 2024 event. But has it missed a trick for 2024?

Some might contend that since the Olympic Games already enjoy such global prestige and recognition, there’s little need for further marketing or promotion of itself. Others, however, contend there may still be ways of expanding it further, including featuring new sporting disciplines like eSports.

The inclusion of this could attract new viewers to the Games who may never have been interested before, while it could also attract bettors as well. They may be more interested in the events that take place as they could help enhance the experiences they enjoy through gambling sessions. Those who already visit TPP site for all of their eSports wagering needs may find that they are able to capitalize on the new options they have available, which could benefit the Olympics further.

Could there still be a place for eSports at the Olympic Games in the future?

With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games including four new sporting disciplines for the very first time, there is still every chance that eSports could get its own opportunity in future editions of the sporting spectacle.

With the activity continuing to grow in popularity – hence why so many believe a trick has been missed this year – it could be something that organizers may find far too difficult to ignore in the future. With Los Angeles being a hub for the eSports market in the West and the host of the 2028 Summer Games, there is every chance that we could see it a lot sooner than some may have anticipated.

Of course, whether it is included will be determined by the popularity and the growth of the sport. If it continues to enjoy the same levels that it does today, then there could be a very good chance that we will see competitive gaming be a discipline in which athletes are provided with the opportunity to win a gold medal for their country!

If not, it will likely only infuriate the global eSports community further, and with Brisbane, Australia, the host in 2032, many believe that its acceptance should be a lot sooner.
