Rocket League Partners with Twitch for Open Championship Series

Rocket League

As if Rocket League couldn’t get any more exciting, Twitch has agreed to partner up with developer Psyonix for the upcoming Rocket League Championship Series.

The premiering Rocket League Championship Series opens registration on March 25th.  The competition will consist of a three-month season where gamers can challenge each other head-to-head. Over the course of three months, the top four teams from both Europe and North America will be decided to attend a live international finals event with a finishing prize totaling $55,000.

Rocket League has gained an undeniably strong multiplayer following since its release back in July. During a podcast last month with Larry Hryb, Jeremy Dunham, Vice President at Psyonix Studios, even expressed his support of Rocket League as an eSport possibility. He said, “We never went into it with the intention of specifically saying we’re going to be a successful eSport … And by our third day of release, people were already playing the game and broadcasting on Twitch.”

To add to all of this, in a recent statement, Dunham stated that Twitch was an “instrumental part” of Rocket League’s success and that he is excited at future eSports possibilities.
