F1 23 Gameplay Deep Dive Showcases Driving and Handling Improvements

Earlier this week, Codemasters outlined how it will roll out the new details of F1 23. The first deep dive is a breakdown of all the new features coming to the race track. On Thursday, Codemasters released a trailer detailing all the latest upgrades to handling, physics, and the introduction to Precision Dive technology.

Drive better in F1 23

In F1 23, handling and physics have received a significant overall, resulting in the most realistic gameplay in the series. Codemasters reworked handling, vehicle driveability, and handling. In addition, kerbs and rumble strips will be more noticeable and will have more of an effect on races.

Updates to physics calculations for the slip of the tyres and how this interacts with the inertia of the car have been made. Plus, the way each car’s engine delivers torque has been refined, with more progressive steps relative to gear and throttle input.

Codemasters went further in this year’s game by including feedback from actual drives to create the most authentic F1 experience.

Precision Drive

This year, F1 23 is introducing Precision Drive, a controller-centric technology that overhauls players’ experience on a gamepad. This new tech aims to bring greater accuracy with each steering input. Codemasters want it to feel like players have complete control of cars when racing.

Whether your driving style is smooth and flowing or more suited to sustained aggression, you’ll start to feel a lot more confident across each circuit and during those crucial wheel-to-wheel battles.

F1 23 will release on June 16, 2023, and will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
