EA UFC 5 Announces Closed Beta Registration

Volkanovski UFC 5

Electronic Arts announced the registration of the closed beta of EA UFC 5. Sign-ups start August 25. The closed beta will be available for PlayStation 5 in North America and other regions, and Xbox Series X|S. We would be remiss to mention that registering does not guarantee access to the closed beta. An email will be sent later this week to confirm whether players were selected.

Days prior, UFC 5 was teased during Gamescom 2023. The trailer teases what is widely believed to be featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. It is unclear whether the teaser is CGI or in-game; UFC 5 does promise to bring enhanced visuals to next-gen consoles. The full reveal of EA UFC 5 will be on September 9, 2023, at UFC 293: Adesanya v. Strickland. UFC 293 is held in Sydney, Australia. If Volkanovski is indeed the cover athlete, his home country would be an appropriate place to reveal it

What we Know so Far

EA has kept the details of the game under wraps so far. However, they confirm that UFC 5 will be better visually than previous entries. There is speculation that EA UFC 5 will run on the frostbite engine. Other than that, most information has been more wishful thinking.

How can the Game be Fresh

In September 2022, SGO published a wishlist about UFC 5. In it, we stated UFC 5 should add pride mode, semi-regular roster updates, and a feeling of uniqueness to each fighter. Since this will likely be the last title before EA focuses on the development of the rebirth of Fight Night, UFC 5 should be a strong enough entry to last players for a few years.
