As we enter the new year, a new release from our favorite sports titles looms along the horizon. However, the latest release in the Madden franchise has heavy stipulations. According to sources close to Mike Straw at Insider Gaming, Madden NFL 24 is a “make or break” release for the franchise.
It’s Now or Never
The blunders of Madden NFL 23 have caught the eye of EA management, and it is laying down the law. You may recall an earlier report by SGO stating that players affected by the cloud save issues of Madden 23 will receive an invite to the closed beta of Madden NFL 24. The invite is good for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users. In addition, and lastly, all impacted players who lost progress due to this issue will receive a 50% discount on Madden 24.
Currently, the features of Madden 24 have been kept under wraps by EA. Rest assured that as soon as we know, we will report it.
“The discount for players who lost their franchise is only the beginning,” one close to the game’s development said. “EA has big plans for Madden 24 and the management of the game knows how big of a year it is. Not just for the game, but for their future in their positions.”
Sales will not be an indicator of success in the upcoming madden cycle. If Madden 24 suffers from the same issues that plagued Madden 23, some leadership’s future will hang in the balance.
Madden has been the subject of the ire of fans over the past few years. To them, Madden has seemingly regressed over the years. Multiple campaigns have been started to fix Madden, which seems to fall on deaf ears.
Since 2005, EA has monopolized NFL titles with no legitimate competitor. It may change in the coming years, depending on the success of Madden 24. If Madden 24 fails, the window to make a true competitor is wide open for developers.
