As of today, EA has provided another update to the Madden 23 Franchise mode cloud saves issue. The recent update hopes to shed some much needed light on the Franchise Cloud Save issue from December of last year as well as provide a timeline of the next steps.

Madden 23 Franchise mode cloud save update

Late last month, EA provided an update surrounding the Franchise cloud save data. During the issue, players saw some leagues become corrupted during a 10-hour window on December 28. EA claims its teams quickly began investigating and working to recover leagues. While they finished their root cause analysis, they also determined the issue impacted roughly 2% of the total number of existing leagues. However, for those leagues accessed during the incident window, the majority resulted in an unrecoverable state.

As of Today, EA presents some better news for those affected. The teams involved managed to restore a limited number of Franchise saves via a backup. Unfortunately, those restored thus far are the only ones that can be restored. This is not a rollout process where more leagues see restoration over time. Good news for some, but still bad for others.

Moving forward

Of course, this also leaves many players wary of starting a new Franchise online, especially if this will merely happen again. To those with this concern, EA notes the “issue that occurred was the result of a highly unlikely set of combined circumstances leading to file server storage reaching max capacity, unutilized legacy code corrupting accessed leagues, while at the same time process errors led to almost all available backups getting deleted in an attempt to correct the original problem.” In other words, this happened due to the “perfect storm” of compounded issues.

Realizing there’s no recovering lost time for players, EA also revealed how it plans to make up for this shortcoming. First, EA promises its acceleration on work for a set of tools aimed at giving players more control over their franchises. These “Commissioner Tools” allow players to customize leagues, setting them up in unique and novel ways for their own and others’ enjoyment. Design work has already begun on a feature set for future Madden titles. EA intends to share more details on the commissioner tool features and a timeline in the coming months.

If that’s not enough…

In addition, all impacted Franchise players will receive an invite for access to the Madden NFL 24 closed beta. The invite is good for registration to access the closed beta on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles only. And lastly, all impacted players who lost progress due to this issue will receive a 50% discount on Madden 24. For players looking to restart their league, a Week 17 “Play Now” Live roster went live last week with another Wild Card update available now as a starting point. For players seeking any of the benefits aforementioned, EA suggests making sure all EA Account information is up-to-date with current email addresses as well as platforms of preference.

I’m being paid 185 dollars per hour to work on my home computer. I had no clue it was possible, but a close friend made $25,000 in four weeks by completing one outstanding project, and she persuaded me to join. Investigate it further
