There’s a new king of the Madden 22 Championship Series. On Wednesday, Jonathan “Jonbeast” Marquez edged out Dwayne “CleffTheGod” Wood II 24-17 in the Ultimate Kickoff final. It is Jonbeast’s first career Madden Championship Series title.

Marquez sealed the one score victory with a game-sealing interception in the final seconds. Following the win, Jonbeast told on-site media said he was “just happy” and had a question for the doubters.

“Can I stop being called an underdog now?”

The MCS win netted Jonbeast $40,000 and 1,500 Madden Championship Series points. The runner-up, CleffTheGod, received a nice $25,000 and 850 points as consolation. On Jonbeast’s road to to the final, he upset top-seeded Drini “Drini” Gjoka by a field goal 31-28. He then went on to defeat George “DntCareAboutIce” Swartz in the semifinal 14-10.

The Madden 21 Rookie of the Year faced his share of challenges on his way to this year’s Ultimate Kickoff title but he holds the bragging rights. For now.
