Madden NFL 21 is no Longer the Worst Game Ever

If you are a glass-half-empty kind of person, then this is good news. According to Metacritic, Madden NFL 21 is no longer the worst user-rated game on the site. The unlucky game that replaced it: Diablo Immortal.

Diablo Immortal Worst Title on Metacritic

You’re probably wondering how Diablo Immortal has taken the crown. Out of nearly 2000 user ratings, the PC version of the free-to-play MMO has a 0.2 out of 10 rating. Diablo Immortal was released on June 2 on iOS and Android. It has an open beta on PC. It has been criticized for similar reasons as Madden NFL titles: The heavy use of microtransactions.

Players would have to spend egregious amounts of money to upgrade characters. It also has a bidding system, where you can use real money, to obtain legendary gems and boost XP.

One would be remiss to acknowledge that user reviews on Metacritic are not indicative of actual users. Given that Blizzard has found itself in hot water, it is plausible that Diablo Immortal was review bombed.

Remember Madden NFL 21

Madden NFL 21 is widely regarded as the worst madden game ever. In our review, we gave it an overall score of 5/10. It makes money hand over fist thanks to Ultimate Team, but rather than focus on the modes and elements players want, things get lost in the shuffle. Dedicated players are going to pick this game up no matter what, but it’s tough to justify a $60 (or more) purchase on a game that feels too similar to what we’ve gotten the past three-plus years.

The gameplay is good in bursts but has too many issues to be consistently enjoyable. The modes are bland overall, and the presentation is drier than desert sand.

It may be a light at the end of the tunnel. At least Madden 21 is no longer the worst user-rated game on Metacritic. Let us know how you are feeling below.
