Major Franchise Feature Missing From Madden 24

Madden 24

Madden 24 has been out for almost one month now. So far, the release seems to have been another major success for EA Sports. This year’s title broke franchise sales records and has been well-received by many. However, one issue is causing complaints from a large portion of the community.

Companion App Missing

Madden 24 released August 18; however, the game’s companion app did not come with it. The Madden NFL companion app is an application for mobile devices that EA Sports has released alongside the last few Madden NFL entries. Since its introduction, the Madden NFL companion app has become an almost must-have for fans of the series.

The app offers several uses for different types of Madden NFL players. Ultimate Team players can access the auction house and view their card inventory, while Franchise players can view stats, add or remove players, advance weeks, and more. This variety of features make it much more convenient for players to stay connected to the game when they are away from their console. Thus, its delayed release this year has those that use the app regularly frustrated.

It’s not just players who are patiently awaiting the release of the companion app. Third-party services that rely on the companion app are also hoping it will be released soon. Take, for example, NeonSportz. NeonSportz is a popular website for online franchise users. This website offers players several extra features that make running an online franchise easier and more interactive.

However, this site relies on data exported from the Madden NFL companion app. Without this data, they are not able to offer their services to players. I spoke with the owner of NeonSportz about how the delay was affecting the site, and they had this to say: “NeonSportz heavily relies on the Madden Companion App to receive data for Madden Career Franchise Mode Leagues. While our users can use our league recruitment features, without the data exported from the app, we are unable to utilize the majority of the features we provide such as the Discord bot commands/notifications, trade approval automation, overall display of statistics and rosters, and more. We hope the Madden Companion App is released very soon so our users can utilize these major features!”

When Will It Release?

Currently, there is no official release date for this year’s companion app. However, we do know that it is on its way. The August 24th episode of Good Morning Madden gave confirmation that the development team was working on the new companion app. While there was no release date, it was good to get confirmation that the very popular app would be returning this year. Good Morning Madden echoed this message again on August 28th: no release date but the team was working on the app.

The next update came on August 30, when EA Sports Production Director Clint Oldenburg replied to a comment on Twitter, saying “The game launched on the 18th. I can’t provide dates that I don’t have. Updates are released when they’re ready. Targeting sometime in the next several days. Thank you for your patience.”

Oldenburg gave another update last week, saying “All I can tell you guys is the need and urgency is known, it’s being worked on, and it’s close… stand by the previous statement of several days, I don’t have an exact date.”

The latest update on the release of the companion app came earlier this week. Oldenburg replied to a few Tweets, again reiterating that the app was coming very soon. He also elaborated on why he was unable to give an exact date for its release: “I’m trying my best to keep you updated. There’s a reason I can’t give a target date … one doesn’t exist… once it’s approved by all parties (like 1st party) then it will go out the door. I’m sharing all that I know.”

Hopefully, the companion app will be released sooner rather than later. With the game having been out for almost a month, players are very eager to get this year’s companion app and the benefits that come with it. EA Sports is working to release the app as soon as possible.

Update – Companion App Now Available

Exactly one month after Madden NFL 24 released worldwide, the Madden NFL 24 Companion App has officially released. The new app is now available on both Apple and Android devices. Players can now download the app and begin managing their Franchises and Ultimate Team.

However, there do seem to be some problems with the app. Players have reported a number of issues and bugs shortly after the apps release. NeonSportz reported on Twitter that there were a few major issues. These included all users having commissioner powers through the app, as well as some weekly statistics not exporting properly. Free agent information also seems to not be exporting properly at the moment. With players already having waited an extra month for the app to release, hopefully these issues can be resolved sooner rather than later.
