Madden 23

Electronic Arts have found themselves in some hot water. Since the release of Madden NFL 23, multiple players, including influencers, have called out the publishing titan for its greed, namely in Ultimate Team. As a result, thousands of players have protested against Madden 23 until their demands are met.

#Packstrike Trends Against Madden 23

Hashtag #packstrike began trending with plenty of engagements from players and influencers. Madden content creator, Zirksee, got the trend going by tweeting out a list of demands. They say Madden Ultimate Team gamblers aren’t getting reasonable value out of the game’s more expensive bundles or by “re-rolling” cards, where players toss the less desirable items they draw and try to get a better card.

So far, thousands of Madden players have sworn off playing Ultimate Team. EA has yet to make any statement regarding players’ concerns.

In our Madden NFL 23 review, we praised madden for the improvements made in the gameplay and presentation. However, Ultimate Team still feels like a scam.

EA has a well-established history with microtransactions. It has defended its use of microtransactions before congress, despite the communities’ vocal disdain for them. Since Ultimate Team’s conception, building a better team has been a matter of how much money you could spend. The grind of building a better team is unrealistic and time-consuming.

It should not take a protest from the player base to improve the game. However, it is simply where we are at this point. The ball is now in EA’s court to address the players’ concerns.
