Major Community Requests To Be Featured In Madden 24

Madden 24

The reveal trailer for Madden 24 was released earlier this week. It gave us our first look at the latest installment in EA Sports’ long-running football franchise. On top of this, the trailer seemed to give a sneak peek at some fan-requested features that will be making their return this year.

Fan-Favorite features returning in Madden 23

The Refs are on the Field!

In the Madden NFL 24 reveal trailer, we got our first look at the gameplay for the upcoming release. During these gameplay snippets, fans who were watching closely noticed something had changed. After years of requests, it seems that referees had been added back onto the field!

For those unaware, during NFL games there are typically several referees on the field. However, for the past few years, there were no referees on the field during gameplay in Madden NFL games. This fact was often used as a criticism of the games, pointing out a lack of attention to detail. However, other fans felt this wasn’t a big problem. These fans said that the series had much bigger issues that needed to be addressed.

Regardless, the referees are back on the field. While this definitely is an improvement to the game, let’s hope it didn’t take resources away from other issues that will have a much bigger impact.

Superstar Mode & Mini Games

For the last few years, Madden NFL’s attempts at a career mode have struggled. While several improvements were made to the Face of the Franchise mode throughout the years, the mode never seemed to catch on with players. Fans of the series begged for the mode to return to the format of the Superstar mode from the PS2 era. Well, it looks like Madden NFL 24 will do just that. At least on current-gen consoles and PC.

On PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, players will be able to play the new Superstar mode. This mode is divided into two parts: The League and Showdown. The League is your typical career mode where you start off as a draft prospect and work your way towards becoming a 99 OVR player. Showdown is a 3v3 online mode where you can play against other players using your Superstar. These two parts of Superstar mode sound very similar to Face of the Franchise and The Yard from previous games. This makes sense because that’s what players on last-gen consoles will have instead of Superstar mode. It remains to be seen how different Superstar mode will be from what players have gotten in the last few years.

One of the main differences we do know about is the return of the mini-games. This is one of the parts of the old Superstar modes fans have specifically requested. These mini-games will also be available in Franchise mode and in the main menu. These mini-games will allow you to help progress your Superstar as you work towards becoming a 99 OVR star. Madden 24 is set to have dozens of mini-games across offense, defense, and special teams.

Are you excited about the return of these fan-favorite features in Madden 24?
