NBA 2K24 has been out for a couple months now, but that doesn’t mean new things aren’t coming to the game. With the NBA season starting, another big addition has made its way to the popular basketball series. The brand-new NBA In-Season Tournament has been added into NBA 2K24 in just about every mode in the game.
In-Season Tournament
The NBA’s new In-Season Tournament has been added to MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA in NBA 2K24. In MyCAREER and MyNBA, these additions are only on the current generations consoles. In these modes, players will try to help their team win the inaugural NBA Cup. The In-Season Tournament in these modes follows the same rules and format as the actual tournament. Also, in order to participate in the In-Season Tournament in these modes, you will need to advance to the next NBA season.
In MyTEAM, there will be new NBA Tournament Battles player cards you can collect during the tournament. Each NBA has one card, and collecting all 30 cards will earn you some big rewards. Completing the Western Conference collection will get you a 91 OVR Amethyst Michael Porter Jr. while the Eastern Conference collection rewards a 91 OVR Amethyst Tyler Herro. Completing both of these collections will get you a 93 OVR Diamond Nikola Jokic.
The In-Season Tournament has been talked about in NBA circles ever since Adam Silver became the commissioner in 2014. This summer though, the NBA announced they had finally approved the idea in full. The new tournament splits the 30 NBA teams into six groups of five. Teams will play games against the other four teams in their group. Afterwards, the top team in the six groups will advance to the Knockout Round along with two Wild Card teams. The Wild Card teams will be the team from each conference with the best record that finished second in their group. From here, teams play a single-elimination tournament until the winner is crowned.
Along with the tournament itself, full graphics and branding for the In-Season Tournament has also been added to these modes. It’s very impressive that NBA 2K24 is already getting the In-Season Tournament. This new tournament was only finalized a few months ago, so players are appreciative of the quick turnaround. This update is now available for free to all NBA 2K24 players, with the MyCAREER and MyNBA content only being available on current generation consoles.
