PC Players Will Get the Last-Gen Version of NBA 2K24

As more and more information starts to roll out about NBA 2K24, fans are starting to get hype. The introduction of new features like crossplay and PROPlay are sure to have everyone excited. However, a new piece of information is sure to disappoint a large part of the community.

PC Version Last-Gen

For yet another year, NBA 2K will be giving PC players the previous generation version of the game. PC players will get the same version of NBA 2K24 as the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. That means players with the most up to date technology will be playing a game that runs on hardware from 2013.

This is very disappointing for PC players. Many of the new features coming to NBA 2K24 are only available on the current-gen of consoles. This includes the new PROPlay gameplay feature, as well as crossplay. Crossplay in NBA 2K24 is only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There isn’t even crossplay between other last-gen versions. In MyCAREER, PC players will not have access to the new City hub world. They will instead have to use the smaller Neighborhood hub.

High-end PCs should be able to run these versions of the game. It would be nice if PC players were offered a choice of which version they wanted. Players with high-end machines could download the current-gen version, while those with more budget builds could still play the game with the last-gen version.

This has been a trend among major sports games over the last few years. Madden NFL has had the last-gen version of the game on PC for the last couple of years. However, they announced last month that they would finally be bringing the current-gen version to PC players with Madden NFL 24.

NBA 2K24 is now available for pre-order. The game will be released on September 8, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
