The Crew 1 Will Be Unplayable By Spring 2024

Ubisoft gave fans of the original The Crew game some heartbreaking news on Thursday morning. The Far Cry publisher announced that its open-world racing game will be unlisted from all online stores and will be playable until March 31, 2024.

The Crew 1 is no more.

In a blog post on Ubisoft’s website, The Ubisoft Ivory Tower team announced that The Crew 1 will be unplayable after March 31, 2024. The developers stated that the reason for decommissioning the game was due to “upcoming server infrastructure and licensing constraints.”

After March 31, players cannot access the game’s servers on any platform. This includes Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Amazon Luna. However, players who have recently purchased the game could qualify for a refund by checking out the publisher’s refund policy here.

Even though the inaugural The Crew game will be offline, Ubisoft has ensured fans that support will continue for The Crew 2 and recently released The Crew Motorfest. If you want to check out the full blog post, you can do so here.

We understand this may be disappointing for players still enjoying the game, but it has become a necessity due to upcoming server infrastructure and licensing constraints. Decommissioning a game, and especially our first one, is not something we take lightly. Our goal remains to provide the best action-driving gameplay experience for players and to deliver on it, we are continuing to provide new content and support for The Crew 2 and the recently launched The Crew Motorfest. – The Ubisoft Ivory Tower team

A little bit about The Crew

The Crew was an extremely ambitious racing game from Ubisoft. The game’s premise was to have players compete in an open world set in the whole United States. Players could seamlessly drive from Los Angeles to New York in just a few minutes.

However, while the developers’ ideas were great, the execution of the game was not as great. The game has the same open-world mechanics as Ubisoft’s other titles, like The Division and Far Cry 4. Unfortunately, the world was massive, but it was very empty with uninspired features.
