EA Sports FIFA Was EA’s Most Popular Sports Game in 2022

Today, Electronic Arts released a company-wide 2022: Year in Gaming report, which revealed loads of data on the performance of its titles over the past year. To no surprise, EA Sports FIFA was once again the company’s most popular game. 

FIFA is EA’s Most Popular Game in 2022

For the second time in a row, FIFA was the most popular game for the American publisher. This news comes to nobody’s surprise, given that FIFA 23 had the best opening period of any previous game in the series, with the game’s latest iteration kicking off with over 10 million players. According to EA, over 32 billion goals were scored by players this year between FIFA 22 & FIFA 23. The company’s football title didn’t only perform well on consoles; FIFA‘s mobile version was the best mobile franchise in 2022. 

The FIFA publisher stated that the FIFA World Cup was a significant contributor to its success:

“And in anticipation of World Cup 2022™, it’s no surprise that EA SPORTS FIFA Mobile, played in over 200 Nations, is EA’s Most Popular Mobile Franchise of the Year.”

Madden, NHL, and F1 Stats

In addition to the success of FIFA, EA rolled out some fun facts about its other sports titles. Madden‘s most popular matchup was the Kanas City Chiefs vs. the Green Bay Packers. NHL‘s most popular match-up was Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche, and Red Bull won the most races in F1. 

Lastly, the American company had a slue of new players all across the globe in 2022. 

“The Electronic Arts community continued to grow in 2022 as we welcomed millions of new players from around the world! Our new players came from Asia & Pacific (27.2%), followed by Europe (24.9%), South & Latin America (23.5%) and North America (12.8%)”
