A little over a month has passed since FIFA 23’s release, and so far it seems the final collaboration between FIFA and EA Sports may be the most successful one. In a press release from EA Sports on Monday, the company announced that more than 10 million players have played FIFA 23 since its launch. That number makes this the biggest launch period in the history of the series.
FIFA 23 Tops Series Charts
The game has been played in more than 200 countries around the world, with more than 1.7 billion matches having already been played. Chelsea Women have been the most featured women’s team in those matches, while the most popular men’s club Manchester City was part of the most popular matchup with Paris Saint-German. In Career Mode, FIFA 23 has had more than 630,000 players select Jude Bellingham as a transfer target, making him the most popular one in the game.
GOAL
Throughout all modes in FIFA 23, more than 4.3 billion goals have been scored since launch. The press release broke down the top ten scorers for both men’s and women’s teams. The top male scorers are:
- Marcus Rashford
- Kylian Mbappé
- Darwin Núñez
- Erling Haaland
- Gabriel Jesus
- Arnaut Danjuma
- Timo Werner
- Cristiano Rinaldo
- Karim Benzema
- Vinícius Jr.
Meanwhile, the top women’s scorers are:
- Sam Kerr
- Fran Kirby
- Marie-Antoinette Katoto
- Vivianne Miedema
- Ada Hegerberg
- Kadidiatou Diani
- Beth Mead
- Caitlin Foord

After scoring these goals, the new Griddy celebration has been by far the most popular. The Knee Slide and picking the ball up out of the net have also been popular celebrations.
Early in its life, FIFA 23 already has more than 15 billion minutes of gameplay time worldwide. It will be interesting to see if EA Sports’ soccer title next year will be as successful without the FIFA license, as well as if whichever studio picks up the FIFA license sees similar success.
