Sociable Soccer 24 Announced, Lead Developer Slams EA’s Greediness

Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen the announcement of loads of new football games. Games like UFL and GOALS have built an excited fanbase around their releases. Many of the developers of these games have stated that the greediness of EA Sports is part of why they started making sports games in the first place. However, another football game has been announced called Sociable Soccer 24, and the lead developer has called out EA Sports.

What is Sociable Soccer 24?

Sociable Soccer 24 is the latest arcade football game from Tower Studios. What makes this particular game stand out is that it’s partnered with FIFPRO, which brings over 13,000 licensed assets to the game.

Not many independent studios have this type of license for their games, so there must be a good bit of financial backing for Sociable Soccer 24.

Everything we know about Tower Studios’ newest football title is on its Steam page. So far, we know that the game won’t feature microtransactions, will come with 13,000 licensed assets, and will feature an Ultimate Team-like formula.

Jon Hare’s Comments on EA Sports

Jon Hare is the lead designer on Sociable Soccer 24, and he promises that while his game can’t compete with EA Sports FC 24’s realism, his game is more affordable and playable.

“We can’t compete with these corporate […] with regard to their $200m marketing war chests.” Hare Stated. “or their ‘almost realistic until they start moving’ graphics, but we can wipe the floor with them when it comes to value for money and playability.”

Jon Hare has said loads about EA and its greediness, and not all of it is passionate gibberish. EA Sports has treated FIFA as a cash cow with its Ultimate Team mode and egregious microtransactions scheme.

Sociable Soccer 24 is set to release on November 16, and it will be available for PC. In addition, versions for Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One will be released later.
