UPDATE: The NWSL is Making its Way to FIFA 23

Last summer, Electronic Arts revealed that official women’s leagues were coming to the FIFA series for the first time. EA’s latest football title, FIFA 23, currently has the English Women’s Super League, the Division 1 Féminine in France, and international clubs. However, a recent Insider Gaming report from Tom Henderson suggests that the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is coming to FIFA 23 this March.

Update March 6, 2023, 1:08 pm EST.

Electronic Arts have confirmed that the NWSL and the UEFA Women’s Champions League will be coming to FIFA 23 on March 15.

National Women’s Soccer League

Based in the United States, the NWSL was founded in 2012 and currently hosts 12 clubs. When the clubs make their way to EA’s football title, these will be the teams competing in the league:

In addition to the 12 NWSL clubs, Real Madrid, VfL Wolfsburg, Juventus, and Eintracht Frankfurt will be added to the game.

When the initial news about women’s football coming to FIFA 23 was announced, many fans expected that players could use these clubs in career mode. Unfortunately, a fully realized women’s career mode will not be in FIFA 23, and we will have to wait and see if EA Sports FC will have it.

Sports Gamers Online reached out to ex-SGO managing editor Mike Straw for clarity on the possibility of a women’s career mode in this update. What his team at Insider Gaming understands is a career mode with NWSL teams is still in the air, but 100% the league and teams are coming to FIFA 23

“While FIFA 23‘s presentation and gameplay have improved, the lack of care and significant updates to fan-favorite modes continue to slow this series down.”
